Variable Oystercatcher - Waiheke

Often fast walking about the coastal areas of Waiheke on the mudflats, mangrove area's. Seen mostly in groups. Eats crustaceans on the rocks and loves pipi's that they prise open. Breeding season seems all year round, having 2 to 3 large eggs with markings of dark brown. Incubated by both the female and male for 27 to 28 days.
