Onetangi Beach Races - Waiheke

Famous for more than 100 years, the Onetangi Beach Races attracted horses from the mainland to race the full length of Waiheke's most spectacular beach. As well as horse races the day also features tractor and waiter races, sand castle building, treasure hunts, tugs of war and fashion in the field. This is one of the island's big days at the beach. Staged every year by the Rotary Club of Waiheke, this charity event attracts hundreds of people to line the boulevard and to wander among the colourful array of stalls. Staged to coincide with low tide, the event normally takes place in March. This is a great day for all the family. Highly recommended, this will be a day to remember.
